ESHER SHORE INFORMATION

Please read the following information before coming to the trails, it will prevent a wasted trip

1. LIABILITY WARNING NOTICE

Esher Shore is not suitable for novice cyclists without previous off-road Mountain Bike riding experience

Be aware that accidents during riding can lead to serious injuries, physical and mental trauma or even death

We ask that you approach your riding with due caution, and ride within your limits and the limits of your equipment at all times

All riders use Esher Shore bike parks strictly at their own risk at all times

2. MANDATORY RIDER MEMBERSHIP

All riders must join as Esher Shore members before riding the trails; this includes signing a liability waiver in the bike shop next to the trails

Any riders found using the trails without a valid membership will be barred for life, we cannot afford to take any chances with liability

The minimum age for riders is 12 years old, as younger riders may not be fully aware of the consequences of their actions when riding

To help fund the costs of running the bike parks - Rider memberships are now valid for 1 year from date of joining

Any riders who joined Esher Shore prior to Jan1st 2006 will need to pay the yearly membership fee on their next visit

3. RIDERS UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE

For health and safety reasons, riders under 18 years of age must bring their own parent or legal guardian to sign the liability waiver

It must be signed by your parent or legal guardian in front of a member of our staff on your first visit to Esher Shore

It cannot be signed by your parent or guardian  by fax, email or written letter, and permission cannot be given over the telephone

It also cannot be signed by your friend's parents or their legal guardian on your behalf, it must be your own parent or legal guardian

There can be no exceptions to this rule, due to  health and safety reasons, and strict liability regulations from our insurers

Therefore, any rider under 18 years without a parent or guardian to sign their waiver will not be allowed to ride in the bike parks

For further visits  just bring your membership card as we hold your waiver on your membership file

4. THE BUDDY SYSTEM

All riders must visit the bike shop prior to riding the trails, to pay the entrance fee and sign in - so we know who is using the trails at all times

Never ride Esher Shore alone, we encourage all riders to look out for each other, and provide assistance to other riders involved in accidents

If riding solo, you could easily swallow your tongue and choke if you hit your head and become unconscious, your buddy can quickly alert our first-aid trained staff

If you arrive on your own, you will have to wait for other riders to arrive so you can 'buddy up' before riding the trails, to avoid any delay arrange to meet other riders at the trails

You can always get in contact before coming to Esher, to see if other riders are already riding in the Bike parks

5. TRAIL ETIQUETTE

You have a duty of care to other riders using the trails, this is often called "trail etiquette" or "park etiquette"

- Do not ride or walk back up a trail, please use the footpaths to return to the top of the bike park

- Do not stop on a stunt or on the run-out of a trail or you may cause a serious accident to the rider coming down behind you

- Do not leave your bike in a trails' clear fall zone or blocking access to a trail gateway

- Will riders please show consideration for other riders  by only riding trails in the direction that they are intended

- Do not cut across lines or an oncoming rider may collide with you and have a serious accident

 - Do not skid; skidding frequently shows a lack of bike control and causes damage to the trail surfaces

- When riding on a busy day please try and keep the roll-in tower area clear of your bike and bags

- Please show a consideration for other riders at all times and always be aware of other riders around you

 - We won't tolerate drugs or alcohol at the trails; but there is a licensed bar in the main building  if you want a beer after riding

- Please don't use the trail area as a toilet (the main building next door has toilets)

- Please stash all of your litter in the dustbins next to the roll-in tower

- If you find any broken woodwork or blown-out dirt sections, please inform a member of staff immediately so we can make repairs

- Please respect the environment around the trails and do not attempt to remove or modify any bushes, plants or trees

You will need your own Mountain Bike to ride the trails, we do not offer any bikes for hire at Esher Shore

We strongly recommend using a Hardtail Freeride bike, Dirt Jump bike* or Full-Suspension Freeride bike for riding in the bike parks

Please be aware that BMX bikes cannot be used in Esher Shore or Shore Style parks due to safety restrictions related to wheel size

Always use a mechanically sound bike that is adequate for the impacts and high stresses of riding the bike parks

Never ride with any mechanical issues, frame cracks or faulty components as this can cause a serious accident
